The Northern Bear Awareness Society is a non-profit organization that relies on dedicated volunteers to educate the community of Prince George in an effort to reduce human-bear conflict. An average of 30 bears are destroyed within our city limits each year, solely because they have become conditioned to seeking unnatural food sources on private properties. The Northern Bear Awareness Society provides Prince George residents with free education about how to eliminate unnatural bear attractants.
We have multiple volunteer roles available, including community outreach, such as:
– door-to-door brochure delivery
– garbage tagging
– information booths
– classroom presentations
– apple picking (in September)
– website update
– brochure update
– creating a bear-themed gift basket
– updating bear conflict stats
