Join us to improve local food security while reducing food waste!
The Canning Circle of the Everyone At The Table collective, is a food recovery and education program for the novice to learn with Master Canners and for the experienced to pass on their skills and trade tricks of the trade. The Canning Circle improves local food security by donating most of the food its volunteers produce to programs that support people who are food insecure such as Hadih House, New Hope Society, Positive Living North, Cedars Projects and many others.
Food processed and canned is recovered, imperfect fresh foods from The PG Salvation Army Food Recovery Program.
When: Every Monday 5:30pm – until done. Come for an hour or come for the entire session.
Where: South Fort George Family Resource Centre, 1200 La Salle Ave, Prince George (there is a bus stop right in front of the centre). The doors of the Centre have to be locked in the evening. If you arrive later than 5:30, find the open windows on the left-hand side of the building and call for our attention.
Who: Anyone, whether you can cook or not. Many tasks: cooking, prepping food (washing, chopping…), doing dishes, or sanitizing jars.
Volunteer participants get to take a couple jars home to improve their own food security.
