Fundraising Coordinator
About the Role
The Fundraising Coordinator plays a key role in the success of Relay For Life by leading fundraising initiatives that inspire individuals, teams, and local businesses to support the Canadian Cancer Society. Working alongside the organizing committee, this volunteer helps develop creative fundraising opportunities, builds community partnerships, and encourages participants to achieve their fundraising goals while creating a meaningful impact for those affected by cancer.

Responsibilities
As the Fundraising Coordinator, you will:
- Develop and implement participant fundraising strategies to help achieve the event’s fundraising goals.
- Inspire, support, and coach participants and teams to reach their fundraising targets.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising initiatives, challenges, and campaigns leading up to the event.
- Provide fundraising resources, ideas, and ongoing communication to participants.
- Monitor fundraising progress and identify opportunities to increase community engagement.
- Work closely with the Sponsorship Coordinators to ensure fundraising and sponsorship initiatives complement one another while avoiding overlap.
- Collaborate with the Communications Coordinators to promote fundraising campaigns and celebrate milestones, successes, and top fundraisers.
- Recognize and thank fundraisers, donors, and community supporters throughout the event season.
- Attend committee meetings and contribute to the overall planning and success of Relay For Life.
- Support fundraising activities during the event weekend and assist with event operations as needed.
Commitment
This is a 10-month volunteer commitment (September to June) that includes:
Attending approximately 20 local committee meetings.
Completing independent role responsibilities (approximately 8+ hours per month).
Being available throughout the event weekend (Friday evening through Sunday) to support event operations.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be 18 years of age or older.
Complete and adhere to the Canadian Cancer Society Code of Conduct.
Be committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for all participants, volunteers, and community members.
