Hi! Mousewood Forest and Nature Early Learning and Family centre is a brand new licensed childcare facility. We are a grassroots nonprofit organization run by volunteers. We believe children these days should have more time in nature and outside.
1. We are looking for volunteers to rotate mowing the grass. There is a lot of lawn and it takes about 2 hours. So we are looking for several people who can take turns doing it.
2. We are looking for someone who can take a weed whacker to the trails through the woods. The weeds grow up through the paths and very quickly get to be up to a young child’s knee! So we need a couple of people who can take turns weed whacking the trails.
3. We have a lot of snow fencing to put up around various area. We have not been able to get funding for permanent fencing yet. So temporary fencing it is. But we need groups of 2 to put it up. It goes fast that way.
4. We need someone who can make some gates.
5. We need someone who can make some long, low steps embedded into a small hill for children to get down more easily. And we need handrails on each side.
6. After those major things are done, we need someone who can help us build the fun stuff. See the pictures.
If you come after childcare hours or on weekends you do not need a criminal record check. But down the road, if you are volunteering while the children are here, you will need us to do a criminal record check first.
