The Performing Arts Entertainment Coordinator is responsible for creating a vibrant and engaging event atmosphere by coordinating live entertainment throughout Relay For Life.
This volunteer recruits and collaborates with local musicians, dancers, performers, artists, and community groups to develop an inclusive entertainment schedule that celebrates community, inspires hope, and enhances the participant experience.

Responsibilities
As the Performing Arts & Entertainment Coordinator, you will:
- Develop and coordinate the event’s live entertainment schedule.
- Recruit and liaise with local musicians, singers, bands, dancers, theatre groups, cultural performers, DJs, emcees, and other entertainers.
- Build relationships with schools, community organizations, and performing arts groups to encourage participation.
- Coordinate performance schedules and ensure performers have the information they need leading up to the event.
- Collaborate with the Fitness & Wellness Coordinator to create a balanced event program that offers a variety of activities throughout the event.
- Work with the Logistics Coordinator to coordinate stage requirements, sound equipment, performance spaces, and technical needs.
- Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to promote performers and entertainment leading up to the event.
- Ensure entertainment aligns with the mission and values of Relay For Life and the Canadian Cancer Society.
- Attend committee meetings and contribute to the overall planning and success of Relay For Life.
- Support entertainment programming throughout the event weekend.
Commitment
This is a 10-month volunteer commitment (September to June) that includes:
- Attending approximately 20 local committee meetings.
- Completing independent role responsibilities (approximately 8+ hours per month).
- Being available throughout the event weekend (Friday evening through Sunday) to support event operations.

Applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Complete and adhere to the Canadian Cancer Society Code of Conduct.
- Be committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for all participants, volunteers, and community members.
