Do you have a green thumb? Become a Horticultural Ambassador at Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum and volunteer in our beautiful urban orchard and railway gardens!
Thank you for your interest in becoming part of our team!
At Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum, we rely on volunteers to help us with our Urban Orchard project and Railway Gardens. Each year, we are grateful to volunteers whose time, skills, experience and enthusiasm help us achieve our aims in gardening.
Volunteering at Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum is a great way to meet like-minded people, use your skills or learn new ones. You will find a friendly, social atmosphere and you will be surrounded by people who share your love of gardening.
We have a wide range of opportunities for people of all skills and abilities. Volunteers assist the head gardener in the care and maintenance of our urban orchard and railway gardens including planting, watering, trimming, lawn mowing, berry picking and more.
This is a physically demanding role requiring good physical fitness, including the ability to bend, lift, and kneel. Training and supervision provided.
Volunteers from all backgrounds and age groups are welcome and anyone may apply to become a volunteer.
What do we look for in horticultural volunteers?
Passion for gardening and the natural world
Great people skills
Respect and support for others
Reliability and dependability
Please be advised that all volunteers have to do a criminal record check prior to commencing any activities at or for CBCRFM. Criminal record checks are free for volunteers and must be renewed every three (3) years.
